Getting started with meditation doesn’t have to be complicated.
The first step is to decide when you’ll meditate. Are you a morning person? Great, set the alarm clock for 20 minutes earlier, and make meditation part of your morning routine.
Are you not a morning person? No problem! Meditation is wonderful in the evening, when the world is winding down.
Just make a decision NOW about when you’ll do it. Without that, it’s easy to let the days slip by without the meditation itself happening. You need to make a point to schedule it in.
Now, set an alarm on your cell phone, so that you get up in time, or to remind you to do it when you get home from work. Put an appointment on your calendar. Write a post-it and stick it to your mirror. Make visible reminders of your commitment to meditation and sprinkle them throughout your life. This is a way of bringing your intent into the physical. It will make it easier to build in the habit of meditation and make it a permanent part of every day.
