Don’t zone out during meditation.

by Lighten Up Meditation · May 7, 2013

I talked about how creating a Meditation Zone, by setting aside a corner of your bedroom or other special place in your home for meditation, can help you in establishing a regular practice. Hopefully that’s helped you in being more consistent with your meditation.

Now it’s time to talk about what you’re doing during your meditation time.

Are you zoning out when you’re supposed to be meditating?

Meditation Zone = good.

Zoning out in meditation = bad.

Meditation is not about drifting. it’s not about floating away. It’s not about taking a nap.

A real practice of meditation is more like work than relaxation.

At the end of it, you’ll feel amazing – rejuvenated, energized, less stressed out. But the way you get there is through active concentration.

Exercising the muscle of your mind to build your ability to concentrate will actually make you more aware of everything in life.

Don’t zone out during your meditation. Work it instead!
