Appreciating an amazing soul

by Lighten Up Meditation · May 9, 2012

A great being left us yesterday. I felt a pang when I heard the news. I had only come to appreciate his wisdom in the past year or so, when I came across first one, then another interview of him out on the Internet.

I’m sure you’ve heard of him — if not him, then his work. You probably knew him as a child. Maybe you’ve known him again as an adult, or maybe you have children in your life with whom you’ve had the chance to re-discover him. He had a profound impact on generations of Americans. His life’s work was creating worlds.

I’m talking about Maurice Sendak.

If you want to laugh, this is for you.

If you want to smile, read his NY Times obituary (yes, really) – the last sentence is priceless.
Where the Wild Things Are book cover

 “A mystery is there.”
– Maurice Sendak
