A great being left us yesterday. I felt a pang when I heard the news. I had only come to appreciate his wisdom in the past year or so, when I came across first one, then another interview of him out on the Internet.
I’m sure you’ve heard of him — if not him, then his work. You probably knew him as a child. Maybe you’ve known him again as an adult, or maybe you have children in your life with whom you’ve had the chance to re-discover him. He had a profound impact on generations of Americans. His life’s work was creating worlds.
I’m talking about Maurice Sendak.
